About your trip

Come and join SwimWild’s experienced coach Alice Goodridge for a morning focused on introducing you to the joys of open water swimming!


Our Introduction to Open Water Swimming course is a great way to start your outdoor swimming journey, increase your confidence and improve your open water skills. 


Location: Loch Insh Outdoor Centre, Kincraig, Kingussie, Inverness-shire, PH21 1NU

Start time: 9am

Duration: The course will run for approximately 2.5 hours

Alice Goodridge - Your Coach

Alice is an ASA Level 2 swimming teacher and STA Level 2 Open Water Swimming coach with years of experience teaching and coaching swimmers of all ages and abilities in the pool and in open water. Alice is an accomplished long-distance swimmer, having completed numerous solo swims, including swimming the English Channel and the lengths of Loch Lomond and Loch Awe. Alice is a fully qualified RLSS lifeguard and holds an up-to-date Outdoor First Aid certificate.

Minimum requirement

You should already be able to swim a reasonable distance in the pool without stopping and feel comfortable out of your depth.

Land-based session looking into Open Water Basics, Cold water immersion, Weather & environmental factors, Swim safety & risk assessment, Kit & equipment

In-water session

Water entry & acclimatisation, Sculling/floating exercises, Breathing basics

Open water coaching

Basic open water technique and skills coaching
